“I wanted to create my kind of ‘hero’: someone - maybe a woman - searching for peace of mind. The use of black and white and the voluntarily minimal line speaks for what is permanent in my work : the need to cut the noise and reduce the information. The separated text goes in that sense: you can choose to place it with the character, or leave it. At the opposite of what an icon often represents (an idol, someone who makes you dream, someone you want to imitate and copy) - my icon could be anyone, with no specific intention to sparkle, simply anyone trying to be at peace through daily life. “
Twotma is Aimée Pedezert, a French artist living in Paris. She studied languages and cultural mediation, and attended the late painting classes of Beaux-arts in Bordeaux. In 2015 she moved to Lisbon and made her China ink work known with a series of portraits glued in the streets. Her bold and spontaneous line finds its inspiration in the observation of the daily, and likes to share a vision between humor and poetry - always searching for more simplicity.
